Description: My style is adaptable, which makes it effective. Each student is unique; there's no 1-size-fits-all method (that assumption made the MTV generation). I shape my style to the student. One kid I worked with had no academic interests. I tried to hook him with Kafka's "The Metamorphosis," which didn't take. So I showed him poetry & the worlds of the imagination. This captivated him, & to this day he explores all poetic forms he can. Another student, a very kind man with a mental handicap (he's been in college 9 years), failed Sociology 300 twice before I tutored him. I explained concepts more simply than the book, with metaphors & examples to liven jargon. He got an A.
